Application Instructions
Applying to Running Start is a multi-step process. First apply to Olympic College and email required documents to our office; then complete the enrollment steps listed below and in the acceptance email that was sent to you.

1Apply and Receive ctcLink ID
Please note: Acceptance to Olympic College does not mean acceptance into the Running Start program.
Complete the Online Admissions Application. Apply early for priority processing and consideration.
- When completing the Admissions Application, you must use your legal name. Later, you will be able to add a preferred name in ctcLink.
- Indicate 'Running Start' as your student type under the 'I will be enrolling as a...' dropdown menu.
- Indicate the specific degree or certificate you are seeking or select 'Academic Transfer AA DTA' if you are unsure. You can always change this later.
- We recommend you do not use your high school email as high schools have strict security blocks that prevent emails outside of the high school from being received.
You will receive a ctcLink Student ID number from the OC Admissions office with your next steps in 7-10 business days.

2Activate Your Student Accounts
Activate your ctclink, email, and Canvas accounts.
The ctcLink Student Homepage is your all-access account that will remain with you throughout your time at Olympic College. Visit our Student Accounts webpage for more info and instructions.

3Send your Running Start Application Materials
To apply to the Running Start program email the following documents to @email.
High school transcript (from an accredited institution)
Must show a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and include a B or better in your most recent English course. (See additional scores if you do not meet this)
Home school students: If no transcript is available, submit a letter of recommendation from your homeschool teacher.
Complete the Running Start Student & Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement.
If your high school transcript does not have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or a B or better be prepared to submit from one of the options below.
Additional scores, if needed:
- Accuplacer Writing and Reading scores of 260+ (Send us your scores directly!).
- Smarter Balanced Assessment Score of Level 3 or 4.
- ACT (within 2 years) English Score of 19+.
- SAT (within 2 years) English Score of 460+.
- PSAT (within 2 years): cumulative GPA x 200 + English Score = 1100+ (Must have an accredited High School Transcript).

4Receive Acceptance Into Running Start
Once we have received all of your application materials and determined your eligibility into ENGL& 101 you will receive an acceptance email from @email to the email your applied to Olympic College with.
We recommend you do not use your high school email as those have strict security block that prevent emails outside of the high school from being received.

5Meet with High School Counselor
- With your High School Counselor complete the Running Start Enrollment Verification Form (RSEVF). If you are registering for summer term, you will need to complete the Summer RSEVF.
- Select classes that meet high school graduation requirements.
- Parent and counselor signatures are required on the form (electronic signatures acceptable).

6Email Running Start Enrollment Verification Form (RSEVF) to Running Start Office
Email your completed Running Start Enrollment Verification Form (RSEVF) to @email:
Must be signed by you, your parent/guardian, and your high school counselor/representative.
Submit it at least one week before your orientation (Feel free to stop by our office in Bremerton to submit it in person!).

7Prepare for your Running Start Orientation and Advising
After meeting with your High School Counselor and submitting your Running Start Enrollment Verification Form (RSEVF), complete all of these steps before your Running Start New Student Orientation.
- Log in to ctcLink and under "Class Information" click "Browse Classes" and search for classes and add to your shopping cart (note: this does not enroll you into those classes).
- Select classes that meet high school graduation requirements and your academic goals per your meeting with your High School Counselor.
Make Sure your student accounts are activated. You will be expected to log into your student accounts at your Orientation!
Make sure to bring your charged cell phone or laptop to be able to log into your account. Olympic College requires multi-factor authentication to log into your student accounts.

8Attend Running Start New Student Orientation & Advising Session
Click the links in your Running Start Welcome Letter (sent to the email you set when you applied to Olympic College) to sign up for your Running Start New Student Orientation.
At orientation, you will:
Learn about college resources, procedures, and faculty expectations
Receive academic advising
Enroll in your classes
Meet Running Start Advisors and Staff
Please Note: You will not be able to enroll at orientation without submitting a signed RSEVF.

9Prepare for the upcoming Quarter
- Pay all fees to the Cashier's Office or through ctcLink Student Self-Service Portal by the Friday before the quarter begins.
- Check Important Dates and Deadlines to be aware of quarter start dates, add/drop, withdraw, and refund deadlines.
- Visit the OC Bookstore online to view/purchase required textbooks before the quarter starts.

10Attend Ranger Ready Orientation
